THE VINEYARD l SUSTAINABILITY
Today, the Apallas family has restored the land once owned by Nancy's grandfather and transformed it into 11-acres of premium Napa Valley vineyard - planted with 10-acres of Cabernet Sauvignon and half an acre each of Malbec and Petit Verdot. The rocky, fertile soil at Soda Creek Vineyards is an ideal environment for producing healthy vines and high-quality fruit. The clones and rootstocks were specially selected for a robust, flavorful assortment of grapes.
The vineyard is currently managed by Rios Farming Company. Past vineyard management has been obtained through Doug Hill (Hill Family Estate) and Dave Bos, who specializes in biodynamic consulting. The vineyard uses sustainable practices to maintain and improve the health of the vineyard and surrounding environment. In 2011, the family hired a biodynamic consultant to eliminate the use of harmful chemicals and instead rely on organic solutions for weed and pest control. The beautiful gardens and farm animal inhabitants (chickens and goats) create biodiversity and help maintain a thriving ecosystem.
